‘Ganges’:Tastefully Indian
Ganges beloved of people, round which are intertwined memories and hopes songs of triumph, Ganges has been a symbol of India's age-long culture and civilization, ever changing, ever flowing, and yet ever the same Ganges. Synonymous with its mighty determination.

Ganges, an exclusive Indian Restaurant specialising in North Indian Cuisine has joined the fast growing restaurant industry of Colombo. The mighty river Ganges winds its majestic way through India as it rushes by or gently ambles along depending on its mood, passing different regions and peoples each so diverse from each other as is the cuisine.

Enter through an immense brass studded wooden door into surroundings that are a blend of traditional and modern. Tastefully furnished elegant interiors are subtle hues of blue and purple and an interesting feature is its bar counter which is a 22 ft aquarium. Cleverly placed mirrors reflect and magnify, lending a sense of spaciousness and depth.

A huge original painting of the River Ganges and its surroundings by local artist Palitha Aluwane dominates almost an entire wall giving focus to the name of the restaurant.... selected antiques mingle with new to give that perfect balance of old and new.

The menu is well executed and packed with traditionally, carefully concocted Indian classics that will take you on a astronomical journey through India and leave your taste buds begging for more.

Starting from the Himalayas where the Ganges originates, through the north Indian regions it flows and its tributaries and this is the ethos behind this authentic menu with an emphasis on refined, creative Indian Cuisine.

Featuring the traditional Moghalai speciality soup Paya Nahari from Uttar Pradesh, Pasanda Boti kebab from the kitchen of the Nawabs of Lucknow, traditional all time favourite Tandoori Specialities including the Tandoori Chicken, Sheek Kebab, Naan, Parathas, and the speciality Nawabi Crab Masala made with Crab meat for those who enjoy crab but not dealing with the shell!
Everyone's favourite, Kadai lamb and Butter Chicken.

From the Deltas of Sarhan is the speciality Chicken dish Sarhan Khorma, Lamb Roganjosh from the Himalayas, Rajmah Masala the ever popular Kidney Bean dish from the culture rich city of Varanasi. An array of Indian cottage Cheese dishes "Paneer" for those who feel that a good Indian meal is incomplete unless accompanied by a rice dish, there are flavourful Biryanis sealed in Clay pots and dessert enthusiasts could always try the Pullaos Desserts include the Kulfi, "Rasmalai" the favourite Bengali speciality and the reduced milk dessert "Gulab Jamuns".

The speciality whole lamb leg "Raan" is made with 24 hours prior notice and the Ganges offers an unique feature of making any favourite dishes not featured in the menu on prior request.
