‘Teen Spirit 1’ at Checkers
Teen Spirit - 1, a young Discotheqe will come alive at the ‘Checkers’ on October 2 from 4.00 pm to 8.00pm. ‘Teen Spirit’ is a fun filled evening of music and dancing for youngsters, who do not fall into the above 21 category, to enter clubs in the night. Also the idea is to introduce "Clean Fun" for teenagers without the aid of Alcohol or Drugs.

"We the organizers believe such fun filled parties will relieve teenagers of study stress and also the urge to illegally enter into nightspots for music or dancing. We also will be using this event to promote new musical talent in Sri Lanka". said Shean Dharmaratne of "Revelation' fame.

Teen Spirit will be held as a monthly event and the first stage will take place at the "Checkers" restaurant located at Castle Street. During the "Party" the bar will be closed and consuming of alcohol will be prohibited. The event will kick off at 4.00 pm and the fun ends at around 8.00 pm, so that the youngsters could return home before it gets too late.

There will be excellent live music by the upcoming Fusion band ‘Siribora’ (group of school musicians playing instruments ranging from the flute to the violins and precussions) and also award winning ‘Revelation’. Guest DJ's will provide dance music too.

"Checkers" chef has a special menu of Hot Dogs, Burgers, fries; Milkshakes and so on for the teens. ‘We strongly believe in the responsibility in bringing a mentally healthy, drug free, stress free younger generation in Sri Lanka, therefore we plan to make this into a larger event by the year 2006’ added the organizer of the event Shean Dharmaratne, who thank ed Saundra Fernando and the directors of the venue for sponsoring the event.

‘So all you teens out there, get down to the checkers restaurant to be a part of the wildest fun you all can have without the influence of booze, Smoking or any form of drug’ he added. Teen Spirit’ is sponsoredby ‘Rockers’ and Elephant Cream Soda
