Goodbye
Annesley
Annesley
Ferreira, former Sports Editor of The Sunday Times passed away on
Friday after a brief illness and his remains were laid to rest at
the Borella Cemetry (Catholic Section) yesterday.
Annesley
cut his teeth into journalism at the Sun and in no time he became
one of the top most sports journalists in the country. His specialty
was covering swimming events. With the closing down of the Sun he
joined The Sunday Times.
He
continued to do his good work working with total dedication to meet
the deadlines and very often left late in the night after finishing
his work.
Subsequently he was appointed Sports Editor of The Sunday Times.
Annesley
had a keen sense for sports news and often collected exclusive stories
from his wide-range of contacts in the field. He wrote without fear
or favour often earning the wrath of errant-officials. He was an
early critic of several Sporting Bodies, the decline of which is
there for all to see today.
But
bad health dogged him towards the latter years and two years back
he retired from active service contributing to The Sunday Times
from home.
He leaves behind his wife Loretta and children Fiona, Marlon, Andreen
and Wilabe.
May
the turf lie lightly over him.
