Visakha emerge schools water polo champs
Visakha Vidyalaya Colombo had double success at the recently concluded inter-schools Water polo tournament conducted for the year 2005. They won both the under 15 and under 19 age groups.

In the finals of the under 15 category, Visakha outclassed Bishop’s College 10-1 for the second successive year. In the under 19 category the Visakhians defeated Ladies College after a penalty shoot out. The scores at full were deadlocked on five all with Shahili Gomes three and Harshini Warnapura two being the goal scorers for the Visakha.

In the run up to the final they beat Bishop’s College 4-1 with again Shahili Gomes shining with three goals and the other being scored by Purnima Ratnayake. The champion team was led by Romali Tudawe who had the services of four members along with her that won the national championship in 2003 in Harshini Warnapura, Prasadhi Perera, Shahili Gomes and Charya Dharmadasa with Rovini Illukumbura and Kushani Sellahendige being the other team members giving them the support.
