Ranil as Sri Lanka CEO
Critics may mock at certain aspects of UNP presidential candidate Ranil Wickremasinghe’s election campaign, saying it is out of touch with the reality of rural Sri Lanka, but his handlers do come up with some slick ads that are bound to strike the right chord with urban voters and professionals.

One such sophisticated effort appeared last week, an advertisement calling for a “Chief Executive Officer’ for Sri Lanka. At first glance, it appeared to be the usual corporate recruitment ad but a second look puzzles the reader as the ad is for a CEO for Sri Lanka and not a company!

A closer look at the recruitment criteria of ‘Reliability, Accountability, National mindedness,Integrity and Loyalty towards the nation’, reveals the ads true nature – a call to support Ranil Wickremesinghe. The selection test, according to those who placed the ad, National Association of Professionals in Engineering, Technology & Science, is to be held on Thursday, November 17, island wide.
