Sri Lanka launches in Lanka
‘TV Sri Lanaka’ Sri Lanka television satellite channel,
which has been telecasting for over 124 countries including Europe,
Middle East, Russia and Africa for the last year was made available
to Asian, Australian and Sri Lankan audience recently.
Programme
Director Rohan Welivita speaking about this new venture said, "TV
Sri Lanka will present programmes giving the proper place to the
Sri Lankan culture and tradition. "Our main objective is to
present news information and entertainment freely to the thousands
of Sri Lankans living abroad bringing foreign exchange to our country".
Highlighting
and protecting the inherent culture and rules of Sri Lanka, TV Sri
Lanka a twenty four hour channel telecast news bulletins, songs,
films, documentaries and teledramas.
Veteran
journalist Edwin Ariyadasa participating at special news conference
held to launch the local telecast of the channel said that it was
important that Sri Lanka, the country in which Dr. Arthur C. Clark,
the man discovered the satellite is having a Satellite TV station.
"TV Sri Lanka should be appreciated for its attempt of going
beyond the concept of the global village to global family,"
Mr. Ariyadasa said.
Marketing
and Publicity Manager, Thushara Fernando said TV Lanka could be
of use for the local entrepreneurs and businessmen who want to introduce
their product to the international markets.
Europe
and Middle East viewers could attune to TV Lanka using satellite
Hot Bird 83 E while Sri Lankan, Asian, Australian viewers could
attune through Insat-2E.
