PNM
wants Bermeo out
Co-secretary of the Patriotic National Movement (PNM) has urged
Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera to take necessary action to
get the serving UN Representative in Sri Lanka, Miguel Bermeo replaced
as it is obvious he is conducting himself in a pro- LTTE manner.
In
a letter to the Foreign Minister Dr.Gunadasa Amarasekara said it
was Mr. Bermeo who arranged a meeting between the head of the Tamil
Rehabilitation Organisation (TRO) and the UN’s Special Envoy
for Tsunami Reconstruction, former US President Bill Clinton who
was in Sri lanka last week.
Dr.Amarasekera
also said Mr. Bermeo was responsible for the UN Secretary General
issuing a condolence message on the death of senior LTTE member
Kaushalyan earlier this year.
Dr.
Amarasekara said it was clear Mr. Bermeo is engaged in pro-LTTE
activities and the UN office in Kilinochchi was being used for such
activities.
