Terrace
of MLH on Fire
The Mount Lavinia Hotel Terrace will be on fire on Saturday, December
31 with Wildfire, performing to welcome the bicentennial year 2006.
The hotel will be celebrating its bicentennial year in 2006 and
the dawn of the New Year will be the beginning of the string of
celebrations at the hotel during the year ahead.
Wildfire will set the fire to the Terrace with internationally acclaimed
Ron and Helen Lucas.
Ron
and Helen Lucas, no strangers to the music scene in Sri Lanka are
back to perform at the Mount Lavinia Hotel during the festive season
as a duo under the name of Smooth Velvet. Ron - vocalist and percussionist
- an ardent jazz fan sings a wide repertoire of Michael Buble and
Frank Sinatra's songs as well as songs by the time honoured greats
like Elvis Presley and Nat King Cole.
Helen
grew up in a musical household - daughter of the famous Papa Menezes
whose name was synonymous with music in Sri Lanka. She was and still
is deeply involved in teaching music and is a constant friend to
other musicians - young and old - lending a helping hand with her
musical knowledge.
Her
artistry in any rhythm whether it be pop, latin or jazz carries
a sophistication that is hard to beat. No wonder she was recognized
as an excellent bandleader when she headlined her successful Helen
Lucas Combo in Sri Lanka.
Ron
and Helen now reside in Australia and very much involved in music,
performing at some of the leading hotels in Sydney. Their music
takes them overseas frequently performing in Germany, England, Malaysia,
Goa and most recently a very successful tour of Los Angeles, Chicago
and Vancouver.
Gala dinner buffet and traditional breakfast, a kottu feed in between,
high flying prizes, surprises and a spectacular fire works display
are some of the top attractions of the night.
Alcoholic
beverages will be at the special discounted prices at the Terrace
on New Year's Eve.
