Kandy CC better than Youth
Kandy CC counter-attacked through a scintillating sixth wicket partnership of 153 between B.P.Nilam (101 n.o with 11 fours) and Sankalpa Gunasekera (89 with 6 hits over the ropes and seven boundaries) to take first innings points over Kandy Youth CC in the local derby concluded at Peradeniya yesterday.

It was Kandy Youth’s front-liners who collapsed on the first day only to be rescued by Rajaratne and the hard-hitting Yasas de Silva. Left arm pacie Charith Bandara and skipper T.Bandara accounted for the wickets.

Kandy CC in turn were 124 for 5 before Nilan and Gunasekera turned things round.

Suresh Pieris and schoolboy Sachith Perera scored half centuries for the losers second time around.
