on internet trends, blogs
A lecture on “Trends in Internet, Blogs, 24-hour news: An
American perspective” will be conducted by Bill Recktenwald,
Professor of Journalism at Southern Illinois University (SIU) on
Monday at 6 p.m. at the Sri Lanka Press Institute Auditorium (SLPI)
in Colombo.
Mr.Recktenwald
teaches reporting, feature writing and investigative reporting at
the School of Journalism and over the winter break (2002-2003) he
worked with a team of SIU journalism professors and travelled to
India, Sri Lanka and Nepal to conduct training programmes for local
journalists.
Vacationing
in Sri Lanka, Mr. Recktenwald was one of the handful of American
journalists caught in the waters of the deadly tsunami.
He
wrote about his experience to the Chicago Tribune and then returned
in March 2005 to file additional stories for the St. Louis Post-Despatch.
The lecture is being conducted by the SLPI and the Sri Lanka College
of Journalism in collaboration with the US Embassy.
