A
net to cap speed merchants in Kandy
Seventy future young fast bowling prospects drawn from Kandy, Kegalle
and N'Eliya districts came in for scrutiny for the Hero Honda, Speed
Merchants camp at the Asgiriya International Stadium, on January.

organisers have got the blessings of Sri Lanka Cricket (Chairman
of Selectors) who has nominated M. Devaraja (as a talent scout)
to assist the Asian Cricket Academy.
“The
Hill Capital camp will be followed by Matara on January 10, Kalutara
on January 17, Dambulla 24, Badulla 31, Negombo (Probably) February
2, Colombo February 15. The final camp to pick the ten players for
one-year scholarship, sponsored by Hero Honda will be held on Feb.
25. It will afford them to continue their academic career, besides
undergoing training at Austasia”, said a senior official of
Stafford Motors.
One
of them picked after the first camp was K.M.C. Bandara from St.
Mary's, Kegalle. An 18-year-old lad, a left-arm medium pacer. He
came in for close scrutiny. Has had a rich haul of ten for 31 in
an innings against Rajarata CC Anuradhapura whilst playing for Kegalla
Marians SC in a Div.II match. Has much potential to make the grade.
Nine
young prospects were picked. Among them five were from Trinity College
Kandy-- Shazeer Mohamed, R. Kumaravel, B. Pulanawewa, R. Bandara,
S.R. Atcharan. K.F. Chaminda Bandara (St. Mary's, Kegalle), Nandana
N. Bandara (Wickramabahu National School, Gampola) P.M.N.R. Dassanayake
(Galagedera Central), N.D.P. Nissanka (Yatiyantota M.V.)
