Let
your beauty shine through
The Sunsilk Hair and Beauty Fair 2006 will be held on January 26
– 29 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the BMICH. This event is Sri
Lanka’s grandest hair, beauty and bridal show, and is hosted
by the Sri Lanka Association of Hairdressers and Beauticians (SLAHAB).
Sunsilk,
the main sponsor has added a new dimension to the event this year
through a ‘make-over’ competition, the ‘Sunsilk
Rusiri Asiriya.’ During this competition hairdressers are
challenged to give a make over to a person from the audience during
a limited period of time. Sunsilk will be conducting this competition
daily between 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and will award cash prizes.
The
biggest highlight of the show will be the ‘Sunsilk Hair Prime
2006,’ a competition that was initiated last year to bring
out the creative talents of the hairdressers of the country. Here
the hairdressers are asked to bring in their own model, and dress
them up in fantasy clothing. Body paints, cosmetic inks and dyes
can also be used on the models to make the event more glamorous.
The points will be given to the best creation. Three winners a day
will be selected, and they will get the opportunity to enter the
grand finale, with the winner being awarded the ‘Sunsilk Hair
Prime’ trophy along with an attractive cash award.
Another
exciting addition to this event is the invitation extended to young
and unknown designers to make presentations in the categories of
ladies’ fashion, men’s fashion and fashion for children.
In addition to this, the fashion shows will feature collections
from Ruchira Silva of Rebel, Dilani Wijesekara of Dilly’s
and Keerthi Karunaratna.
Competitions
and presentations on bridal dressing, latest trends in men’s
hair styles, hair styling tips, etc. will take place throughout
the day, and cake structures, photography, portraits, poruwa and
settee backs will also be on display.
Those
attending the fair will also be eligible to take part in competitions
that will take place on a daily basis. They will be chosen for ‘beautiful
skin,’ ‘healthiest head of hair,’ ‘longest
hair,’ ‘best dressed lady of the hour,’ etc. There
will be over 100 stalls specializing in jewellery, skin care, make-up,
accessories, including stalls by foreign hair dressing schools of
India and Thailand. Participants will be entertained with dances,
fireworks and fashion shows on the themes of bridal, saree and floral.
