Panadura
felicitates 'Master' on his birthday
'Master' in the Sri Lankan music scene, Dr. Premasiri Khemadasa
will be felicitated on his birthday with a series of programmes
in Panadura, his home town.
On
January 25, Dr. Khemadasa's almar mater, St John's College which
has produced a number of leading Sri Lankans in different fields
like literature, theatre, music and even politics has organised
a series of programmes to hononer this renowned musician. Surprisingly
St John's College also celebrates its 130th anniversary on January
25.
Among
the other renowned figures produced by St John's College are G.
B. Malalasekara, Dr. Colvin R. de Silva, Prof. Ediriweera Sarachchandra,
Lalith Athulathmudali and Leslie Gunawardena.
Opening
the series of events, on January 25 morning a workshop on music
and performing arts is organised with the participation of nearly
1000 school children around Panadura and Kalutara areas at Panadura
Town Hall. The special felicitation for the musician who had reached
international heights will begin at St John's College at 2.30 pm.
A
special birthday gift will be given to 'Master' with the launching
of the website 'www.khemadasa.lk' to take his work and creations
to the international scene. At the launching of the website at 6
pm at Namel Malani Punchi Theatre Borella, a number of directions
of Khemadas' musical journey will be performed.
