GMOA
suspends strike for now

The Government Medical Officers’ Association has threatened
to resume its trade union action if the union does not get a favourable
response from President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
GMOA
secretary Dr. Uditha Herath said further trade union action has
been postponed till February 21. “The council plans to urge
the President to implement the clauses in the National Council of
Administration circular.
If
there is a further delay in the implementation of the circular,
they will summon a General meeting and decide on the action to be
taken”, Dr. Herath said. The GMOA launched a series of token
strikes last week after the President suspended the implementation
of the new salary structures based on the proposals by the National
Council for Administration.
