Ceylinco Life publishes children's story book
The children's story book, 'Palingu' written and illustrated by one of Sri Lanka's best known artists and veteran author Sybil Wettasinghe, is sponsored by Ceylinco Insurance under the banner of its popular child protection policy 'Ceylinco Ran Daru'.

The first of a series titled 'Ran Daru Katha', Palingu is published in all three languages and is the story of a little girl and her four brothers who face the most common obstacle in rural villages - poverty. This book also explores the imagination of a child's mind by including fairies and magical gifts in its story.

"The 150,000 paintings received for the Ran Daru art competition inspired me to write this story", Ms. Wettasinghe said. The English and Sinhala scripts of Palingu were written by Ms. Wettasinghe herself. A writer and illustrator of international repute for more than 50 years, Ms. Wettasinghe said she was thrilled to join a community project which supports children.
Ceylinco Life's Chief Executive Director, R, Renganathan said the books would be distributed to school libraries and be given out as gifts. They could also be purchased from Ceylinco Life branches.

A significant portion of Ceylinco Life's interaction with the community focuses on children. This includes the 'Pranama' Scholarship programmes, Ceylinco Aloka grants for education, CSR projects to build school infrastructure in rural areas, the Ran Daru art competitions and the other outdoor activities organized under the Ran Daru Sawari programmes.
