A 35-year-old record in the Thurstan-Isipathana cricket series was
lowered yesterday at the SSC Grounds. A fourth wicket partnership
between Buddhi Samarawickrema(67 n.o) and Shehan Perera (107 n.o)
of Thurstan highlighted the encounter which ended in a draw.

the process this pair broke two records. The first was the best
fourth wicket partnership of 114 by Kamal Mahendra (146) and Gamini
Nanayakkara (60) of Thurstan in 1990.
The
second was lowering the highest partnership set up by Thurstan’s
Mahesh Jayasekera (82) and Tissa Salgado (53) and they put on 141
runs for the third wicket in 1975.
The
unbroken partnership between Buddhi Samarawickrema and Shehan Perera
realized 173 runs and kept the crowd happy with their timely shots
and quick running between the wickets.
At
one stage Thurstan were in a bad way having lost four wickets but
Shehan Perera and Buddhi Samarawickrema enabled them to reach 237
for four wickets.
Shehan
Perera unbeaten century came in 225 minutes and consisted of 14
