New
‘kid’ in town
There is a new player in town as far as LPG supplies go. So if you
wondered where Mundo Gas went, now think E-Gas Limited that offers
a total of 36 dealers from Jaffna to Batticaloa to Hambantota —
with aims to expand further.
A strong
reason why the company is going places is price: to fill a household
cylinder is Rs. 920, a serious discount when compared with other
players. But as Azlan Shah Mohamad Shah, E-Gas CEO, said: “We
are not here to steal clients from other gas suppliers; we are looking
to convert those still using wood to cook with.”
“The
reason for our price is that we miss out the middle men. It’s
E-Gas from the distribution plant to the dealer. And as we deal
with both Malaysia’s Petronas and PTT in Thailand, the upstream
supply line is always turned on,” he said. E-Gas is a firm
with Malaysian investment. “We want to compliment the market,
not be competitive. We work hard on increasing our efficiency so
that we can pass the savings onto the customer.” So if you
are looking to convert to gas, start looking out for orange cylinders
at a hardware store near you.
