               'Chakraudhaya',
a teledrama directed by Anura Madhawa Jayasekera is being telecast
every Sunday at 8.10pm on ITN. 'Chakraudhaya' revolves around a
warlord during Uva-Wellassa insurrection in 1818. Warlord Madaatuwe
Appuhamy helped Monaravila Keppetipola Maha Disawe who initiated
              the insurrection.
            Madaatuwe
is shot by British troops and becomes unconsious. He is taken to
a cave by very clever native doctor Veda Mudiyanse and treats him
keeping the warlord in a boat like vessel filled with medicinal
herbs. Madaatuwe Appuhamy sustained injuries on his stomach. Fifteen
              years pass by .......
            One
day English troops raid the cave which is in thick jungle and kill
the Sinhala warriors. Veda Mudiyanse hides the vessel with Madaatuwe
Apphuhamy and commits suicide to avoid being surrendered to the
              British .
            After
187 years a Buddhist monk who knows Aurvedic Medicine happens to
find an old ola leaf manuscript from a very old library. While persuing
the writings the monks sees the story about Madaatuwe Appuhamy.
At the end of the story it was mentioned that the particular medicine
was efficatious enough to protect the body even for 300 years.
            The
monk gets the help of a school master Manorathna and manages to
find the 'Medicinal Boat' with Madaatuwe Appuhamy. The monk succeeded
to awake Madaatuwe Appuhamy after a long coma. Afterwards 'modern
Apphuhamy' has to face many challenges in the present society.
