The
Dharmaraja - Kingswood centenary clash
Rukshan playsinto history
By Aubrey Kuruppu
Dharmaraja’s all rounder Rukshan Suriyaarachchi with a superb
all round performance (5-47 and 113) grabbed the spotlight at the
centenary Big Match between Dharmaraja and Kingswood which ended
in a draw at the Asgiriya Stadium, yesterday.
Put
into bat, the Kingswood rattled up a formidable 257-8, with skipper
Demintha Dahanaike leading the way with a forceful 82. Assistance
came his way from Niroshan Perera (52 not out in 52 balls) Roshan
Lokuge 42 and Indika Senaratne 26. Off spinner Suriyaarachchi accounted
for five of the best.
The Rajans batted well down the line but stumper Ekanayake (60)
and Suriyaarachchi (113) held centre stage.
Second
time round, there was delightful stroke play from the Senaratne
brothers and Jayasinghe for Kingswood.
