Top Microsoft partners recognized for outstanding performance
Microsoft Sri Lanka, building on a year of steadily increasing momentum, recently hosted its annual industry partner conference, based on the theme “VELOCITY”.

Velocity Sri Lanka 2006 - inspired by Microsoft’s global partner conference - is a Partner networking initiative for the local industry. Held at Water’s Edge, this full day program saw over 350 top Microsoft partners from more than 100 organisations attending. The programme focussed on closer alignment between Microsoft and its partner network in order to propel them towards enhanced competencies in technology, which would help them operate more successfully in a dynamic business environment.

Designed exclusively for Microsoft Partners, the symposium afforded a myriad of learning opportunities on new business strategies as well as on how they may optimise on the Microsoft Partner Programme benefits. Several sessions were conducted on Partner Opportunities which highlighted that irrespective of business size, type, or area of focus, the Microsoft Partner Program offers benefits to partners that will support them throughout all stages of the business cycle.

The sessions gave an in-depth insight into how organizations can extend their market reach, reduce costs, increase profitability, and help customers achieve their full business potential by partnering with Microsoft.

Top regional Microsoft executive Faycal Bouchlaghem (General Manager, South East Asia, New Markets), delivered the keynote address on emerging business trends in global IT and the vision and strategy of Microsoft. Microsoft Country Manager Sriyan de Silva Wijeyeratne went on to speak about the Opportunities and Challenges, and gave the audience an opportunity to experience the depth of vision and strategy concerning Microsoft software programmes and initiatives in Sri Lanka.

Winning honours in the category of Distributor of the Year was Tech Distribution Lanka (Pvt) Ltd. The award for ‘Best Partner for Windows Sales’ was bagged by PC House (Pvt) Ltd. The ‘Best Partner for Server Sales’ went to The Golden Key Company Ltd. whilst the ‘Best Partner Managed Reseller’ category and ‘Best Partner Breadth Reseller’ category were won by Soft Logic Trading (Pvt) Ltd. and Open Systems Technologies (Pvt) Ltd respectively.
DAC Vision (Pvt) Ltd. won ‘Special Award Business Solutions Sales’.

The awards were presented in recognition of the essential role played by the Distribution Channels in the success of Microsoft in countries like Sri Lanka. The performance of these organizations serves as a source of inspiration for the entire channel.
