April 1 joke
A rumour went around that cricket star Sanath Jayasuriya had been injured in an accident. A journalist telephoned him to verify the authenticity of the rumour.

An astonished Sanath quipped. “What accident? Where is it supposed to have happened?” It soon dawned that as it was April Fool’s day the rumour was a joke.

Quick reaction
The JVP which did not fare as well as expected in the local government polls was the first to react to the outcome.
Its members quickly pasted posters thanking those who voted for them.

Where would they end up?
At last week’s Security Council meeting, a minister urged the President to provide a loan facility to MPs to get down duty free vehicles as they had no ready cash for the purpose.

The President said he was aware of the problem but said the TNA MPs have no such problems as the money has already come to the Parliament bank in their name.

The discussion was where these vehicles would end up once they were imported.
