Kohona new chief of peace secretariat
Palitha Kohona, the former head of UN's Treaty Section, is to take over shortly as the Director General of the Secretariat Co-ordinating the Peace Process (SCOPP).

Mr. Kohona recently quit his UN post. He is now an advisor to President Mahinda Rajapaksa. Mr Kohona will succeed John Gunaratne, a former Foreign Ministry official who became Secretary General of the SCOPP after Jayantha Dhanapala, the previous incumbent resigned.
