Lanka checks on Solheim’s remarks
Sri Lanka is to protest to Norway over reported remarks by its International Development Minister Erik Solheim that Sri Lankan military had been harassing Tamils prompting an exodus to the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
The Foreign Ministry is now verifying details of an interview which Mr. Solheim had given the Indian web magazine Tehelka.com.

He had been quoted as saying that the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission had confirmed the fact that Tamils were being harassed by the military.
