‘Rangabhisheka’
at Monash Univercity
Rangana Ratnatunga and Udumbara Ratnatunga, Post graduate students
in Australia, presents Rangabhisheka dance debut at Alexandra theatre
in Monash University Clayton on 2 April.
An
old boy of D.S. Senanayaka Vidyalaya Rangana, B.Sc (Hons) graduate
of University of Peradeniya-Sri Lanka, Attorney -at-Law in Sri Lanka,
postgraduate of Master of professional Accounting in Victoria and
of MBA in Deakin Universities of Melbourne and also a professional
Sri Lankan traditional Up-country (Kandyan) dancer, chanter and
drummer. He is the elder son of wellknown dance and folk song artists
Nanda Ratnatunga and R.M. Ratnatunga.
An
old girl of Devi Balika, Dance Visarad Udumbara, Bachelor of fine
Arts-Dance (Hons) University of Kelaniya - Sri Lanka, postgraduate
in choreography (University of Melbourne), in also a professionals
Sri Lankan traditional Up-country (Kandyan), Low-country, Sabaragamuwa
and Indian dancer & Chanter. She is a former visitng Lecturer
in dance, at Performing Arts Dept, University of Colombo.
Udumbara
is the Younger daughter of acclaimed award winning playwright, Director
and Translator S.Karunaratne and Anula Karunaratna.
After
a Vigorous training for three years, Rangana-Udumbara going to do
the debut performance with their own students in Melbourne. Rangabhisheka
dance performance is a combination of Professional Sri Lankan authentic
classical dance and Indian dance, creatively enlightened by western
choreography. Spectacular item in this program is parents Drum recital.
