Bail
sought in alleged fraud case
The managing director of a firm at Kollupitiya was recently allowed
surety bail in a sum of Rs 250,000 by the Colombo Fort Magistrate
and Additional District Judge Namal Ballale in a case of alleged
cheating.
Managing
director of Trans World Movers (Pvt.) Ltd., Suresh Marcellus was
produced in court by Sergeant Sam Fernando of the Colombo Fraud
Investigation Bureau (CFIB) for allegedly selling 15,600 shares
of Ramani Marcellus of the same company and cheating her in a sum
of Rs. 7.7 million
Lawyer Sarath Cooray who appeared for the suspect sought bail and
said the transaction mentioned in the report filed by the CFIB had
taken place while his client was in Australia. The case was put
off for June 13.
