Avurudu at the Blue Water
The Blue Water will celebrate the Sinhala and Tamil New Year differently
this year. The festivities will commence on April 14 at 10.00am
with the hoisting of the national flag at the Seaboard lawn, followed
by the serving of traditional Sri Lankan sweets and Kiri Bath. The
venue overlooking the sea is the ideal setting for the grand events
scheduled for the day including traditional games for both young
and old.
The
highlight of the day will be the arrival of the Manthrithuma and
his wife in a motorcade and the police raiding a kasippu outlet.
Authentic Sri Lankan and Indian dishes will be served, action stations
will take on a hawker-style layout.
Typical village scenes will be created with Kopi Kades, Mathara
Kades and the village ruffians. An added attraction will be the
film show, Kadavunu Poronduwa for which a 'moderate' charge of Rs.
