‘Randiya
Dahara’ for New Year
Locally and internationally acclaimed film 'Randiya Dahara' directed
by Udayakantha Warnasuriya will be telecast for the New Year on
Rupavahini channel.
The
film, one of the recent releases will be telecast for the first
time on the miniscreen on April 13 at 10 pm. Music for Randiya Dahara
is directed by Premasiri Khemadasa and features a stellar cast comprising
some of the veterans and young talented actors and actresses.
The
cast includes Jackson Anthony, Geetha Kumarasinghe, Kamal Adararachchi,
Sanath Gunathilake, Tony Ranasinghe, Jeewan Kumaratunge, Mahendra
Perera, Henry Jayasena, Anula Karunathilake, Buddika Jayaratne,
Udula Dabare, Milton Jayawardena, Sitha Kumari and child actor Asantha
Peiris. Amalie, a young girl from the lower middle class of our
society hopes to go abroad one day.
She
needs money to pay for the agency and poses as the wife of a soldier
killed in battle claiming compensation. She is successful and receives
the compensation but faces a problem when the dead soldier comes
back alive and well. The story revolves around the encounters that
Amalie faces and how she responds to the clashes and opposition
and controversy that follows.
Produced
by Neil Ranjith Palliyaguruge the technical crew included Jayanath
Gunawardena and K. D. Dayananda as cameraman, Stanley Alwis as editor,
Sunil Wijeratne art director and Ebert Wijesinghe as make up artiste.
Lyrics are written by Lucian Bulathsinghala while playback songs
are done by Nelu Adikari
The film won a bronze award at the Houston International Film Festival
in addition to a number local awards.
