A double for champion rider Gayan Sandaruwan

Sri Lanka's champion rider Gayan Sandaruwan continued his winning spree and looked set to bag many more races in the coming months when he landed a double at the annual Motor Cross 2006 organized by the Nuwara Eliya Motor Racing Club (NEM) and sponsored by Singer Sri Lanka held at the NEM Racing Complex in Nuwara Eliya.

The annual event celebrated in conjuction with the Nuwara Eliya season festival celebrations saw some of the top riders taking part. It was champion Gayan Sandaruwan who stole the limelight by winning both the events that he participated which was the Racing Open and Racing 4-Stroke Open event.

Another rider to have double was Buddhika Sandaruwan who won the Standard 125 and the Street Trail Open events. The biggest surprise was that of former motor cross specialist Nalin Perera who was pushed to the third slot by Akila Batepola. There were two riders from Nuwara Eliya Nalin Perera and Mohamed Rizmi who impressed at the meet winnng an event each.
