Public
encounters with Mayoral candidate
To give an opportunity to the voters of the Colombo City to initiate
a dialogue particularly with the Mayoral candidates of the three
main political parties UPFA, UNP and JVP, the Centre for Society
and Religion (CSR) is making arrangements to provide a platform
for them so that they could interact together towards the solution
of the numerous problems that confront the City.
The
contesting political parties will present their proposals or election
manifestos on separate days. Ten problem areas that are related
to social justice in the City have been selected for such a dialogue,
namely: Social Justice in the City; Poverty Alleviation; Health
and Environment; Common Amenities; and Budget of CMC Urban Planning.
They
will be held on Tuesday April 25 and Wednesday, April 26 and again
on May 2, 3, 9 and 10. These sessions will be held in the CSR premises
from 3 to 5 p.m. and are open to the general public and the media.
UPFA
mayoral candidate Vasudeva Nanayakkara and the UNP’s Sirisena
Cooray will be among those facing public questions on how they intend
to eradicate poverty and bring justice to all the people of Colombo.
