Commander Lieutenant General Sarath Fonseka is on the road to recovery,Colombo
National Hospital Director Dr. Hector Weerasinghe said.
“The team of surgeons which operated on the Army Chief last
week is very happy with his present condition,” Dr. Weerasinghe
said.
The
Army Chief who was injured in the suicide bomb attack two weeks
ago was transferred to the Military Hospital in Colombo from the
Intensive Care Unit of the Colombo National Hospital, Army headquarters
said yesterday.
The Commander has now gained full consciousness and will need a
short period of rest and relaxation according to advice of medical
experts before he resumes duties in the near future, a news release
from the Army said.
