‘Paramitha’
one episodic teledrama series based on Jathaka stories, sponsored
by People's bank will be telecast soon on ITN channel.
Stories from 'Pansiya Panas Jathakaya' produced in collaboration
with Creative Circle Lanka (Pvt,) Ltd will be telecast every Saturday
7.30 pm starting from Vesak week May 13.
Scripted by veteran script writer Somaweera Senanayake, the teledrama
series was directed by Thusitha de Silva.
Paramitha will bring 48 selected tales from the 550 Jathaka stories
and present a story every Saturday for a period of one year.
"Pansiya Panas Jathaka stories is an ancient, historical and
classic masterpiece ever created and for the first time in history
these stories are being produced in the form of a teledrama series"
Chairman P. A. Kiriwandeniya, Chairman, People's Bank said.
These stories are in fact a mode of education for all age groups.
The exemplary human qualities and values depicted through these
stories can help enrich the quality of life of any individual irrespective
of caste, creed, age or religion.
"Paramitha" teledrama series was recently presented to
President Mahinda Rajapaksa at 'Temple Trees'. At this event President
Rajapaksa while thanking People's Bank for taking the initiative
on this important project stated that Pansiya Panas Jathakaya is
an ideal book to arrest the deteriorating values in today's society.

Signing of the agreement with regard to the project was held at
the People's Bank Training Institute with the participation of Bank
Chairman, Dr. P. A. Kiriwandeniya, General Manager, Ashoka de Silva
and teledrama director Thusitha de Silva and director of Creative
Circle Lanka Pvt Ltd, Kamini Rajapakse. (SRF)
