The Taj became only the second hotel in Sri Lanka to receive this accolade at a recent ceremony by the Sri Lanka Standards Institution.
In a statement it said the first step in this direction was the large scale renovation encompassing a complete transformation of the rooms on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors. Work is in progress on the contemporary Coffee Shop, the pool and the Executive rooms.
“At this point of time, heart of the house areas such as the various kitchens were also renovated. The need was felt to conquer the International benchmark certificate for Food Safety Systems. Thus began the journey toward achieving ISO 22000, which today surpasses HACCP as the yard stick in Food Safety. ISO 22000 evaluates all processes and ensures safety from the farm to the fork,” it said. "Heart of the house" is hotel terminology for integral back room functions like the kitchen. |
