SLC provides face –lift for rural cricket

Sri Lanka Cricket has approved Rs. 250 million to develop cricket nurseries to harness young talent at district level, said Bandula Warnapura Director Cricket Operations of SLC commenting on their latest youth development programme.
“Attention will be focused on rural schools with better facilities. Cricket for all sans barriers” said Priyantha Algama Chairman District Development all these emerging schools in the districts will be afforded with Astra Turf pitches.
The districts are: Ampara, Badulla, Moneragala, Ratnapura, Puttalam, Jaffna, Mullaitivu, Kilinochchi, Batticaloa, Trincomalee, Mannar, Hambantota, Matara, Galle, Kurunegala, Polonnaruwa, Anuradhapura, Matale, Nuwara Eliya, Kandy, Kegalle, Gampaha, etc. (Western province)
St. Sebastians Moratuwa, St. Joseph’s College Darley Road, (with new sprinklers systems). St. Bendict’s (Lawn mower and covers) Ananda College (Astra Turf and covers) D.S. Senanayake MV, (Heavy Roller, Astra Turf) Thurstan (New scoreboard/practice pitches), Malinda and Richmond Improvement for their playing fields. Wesley (Astra Turf) Kalutara Vidyalaya, Taxila MV Horana, De Mazenod Kandana, Bandaranayake MV, Gurukula MV (Kelaniya), Ananda Sastralaya Kotte, too will benefit from this development project.
In Kandy St. Anthony’s, St. Sylvester’s, Dharmaraja etc will be assisted.
