Ceylinco Insurance highest placed insurer in LMD 50 once again

Insurance leader Ceylinco Insurance has been ranked 14th in the latest ranking of Sri Lanka’s leading listed companies by the Lanka Monthly Digest (LMD), 31 places ahead of the second highest ranked insurance company.

The LMD 50, Sri Lanka’s version of the Fortune 500, has moved Ceylinco Insurance three places up from its ranking last year, based on the company’s financial performance in the 2005/06 fiscal year, according to a Ceylinco press release.“Ceylinco Insurance has been steadily moving up the rankings over the years and is in the company of some of the country’s biggest conglomerates, banks and telcos,” commented Ceylinco Life Chief Executive Director R. Renganathan. “This reinforces our position as the market leader in the local insurance industry and our leadership is also reflected in our share price, which is the highest among the insurers listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange.”
