letter to the Sports Editor
Dear Sir,
LIVE TELECAST
It is disappointing to note that the cricket lovers are deprived of live telecast in the last couple of overseas tours after the present Interim Committee of SLC took over office. It is needless to state that a majority of Sri Lankan do watch cricket played under different conditions and hear the expert comments made by well known great ex-players. Also the atmosphere created by the majority of the spectators is worth watching as they appreciate a good game of cricket by both sides.
It is a known fact that the so called officials have the luxury of watching matches live anywhere in the world on cable/satellite TV as they are drawing six figure salaries from SLC. Those officials are only talking big about taking the game in to rural areas and it looks like nothing is happening at the moment.
Further, it should be stated that we wouldn't have been able to discover the players of the calibre of Sanath Jayasuriya nor Lasith Malinga, if not for the kind of entertainment provided by the electronic media. We made a special plea from the SLC to at least to make arrangements to broadcast the ODI series between Sri Lanka and New Zealand which will follow the Test series.
Yours Faithfully,
Nalinda Suriyampola - Kandy |
