advisor’s son freed
The son of a senior Defence Ministry advisor has been released
nearly 30 hours after he was abducted on Thursday at Bambalapitiya
in Colombo, Police said yesterday.
Mayura Dimuthu Malavige, 42, was dropped off blindfolded by his
abductors at Thimbirigasyaya around 11.30 p.m. on Friday. The abductors
bundled him into a van while he was walking towards a pastry shop
near the office of his private security firm at De Fonseka Road,
Bambalapitiya, on Thursday evening and kept him overnight at an
unknown destination.
Mr. Malavige had been questioned by his abductors about his father,
Major General M.D. Fernando, according to CID detectives investigating
the case. They said Mr. Malavige had not been harmed by his abductors. |
