Demolishing squad hard at work
SYDNEY, Jan 6 (Reuters) - Sri Lanka demolished New Zealand by 189 runs on Saturday to win the fourth one-day international at Auckland, leveling their five-game series at 2-2.
Sri Lanka skittled the New Zealanders for just 73 -- their second-lowest total in limited-overs internationals -- after posting 262 for six in their own innings.

It’s not the end of the world
Once the legendary Muhammad Ali proclaimed “I am the greatest the world has ever seen”. Having so proclaimed he may have been the greatest at that juncture, but more it is the passage of time that has given him the status as the most known boxer that history has produced. Even in soccer the much celebrated ‘Pele’ will always command the respect that he deserves.

Pull up your socks!
As Sri Lanka slumped to their second consecutive defeat there was evidence in a lack of desperation to win. No game of cricket goes completely to plan. The opposition is there to spoil your plans. The pitch is there to provide the challenges. These and much more have to be conquered to achieve a victory.

Discipline in schools rugby a must
By Vimal Perera

By the time this column is in print the Annual General Meeting of The Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union will be over and elsewhere in the paper the news of who will lead the Union in the year 2007 will be published. The suspense and the anxiety being over it will now be the time to get rugby moving on the field. First to the field will be the Mercantile Sevens that will be played on the 20th and 21st of January.
