The awards ceremony will take place at the Royal Opera House in London’s Covent Garden at 7 p.m. on Sunday February 11 and will be televised by the BBC.

Set in the north of England against the backdrop of the current Iraq conflict, the film is a fictional video diary of a mother to her 19-year old son who is stationed in Iraq with the British forces. When he goes missing in action, the video becomes much more than just a diary.

Asitha commenced his primary education in London and subsequently spent a few years at the Overseas Children’s School in Colombo from where he proceeded to Harrow School in London for his secondary education. After graduating in Classics at Bristol University he proceeded to California where he completed a Master of Fine Art degree at the California Institute of the Arts.

He is currently developing two feature films and another short. Meanwhile his first collection of short stories will be published by the Perera-Hussein Publishing House this spring in Colombo.
