Fraud case: Obeysekera was confused, says house doctor
Giving evidence in the case where the property of philanthropist Fredrick Obeysekera has been allegedly fraudulently claimed, the Asha Hospital House Officer said Mr. Obeysekera was sometimes in a confused state at times and was not stable.
In this case former Military Spokesman Sumedha Perera and former caretaker Sarath Wijewardena are accused of producing false deeds of transfer and claiming the property of the late Mr. Obeysekera.
The House Officer Dr. (Mrs.) Amarawathie Kanagaratnam said she had examined Mr. Obeysekera when he was warded at the hospital and confirmed he was in a confused state most of the time.
Mr. Obeysekera was admitted to the hospital by one K.G.B. Fernando and was being treated by Dr. Chinthaka de Silva and as she was the House Officer she examined the patients in their rooms.
She said Mr. Obeysekera was in a state of dehydration when she examined him.
Dr. Chinthaka de Silva confirmed that the patient was suffering from Parkinson’s Disease and that he could not have signed any document in that state.
