International Children's Art Competition
As part of the activities to celebrate the 'International Day for the Eradication of Poverty' (October 17) and the end of the first Decade for the Eradication of Poverty, the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA), in collaboration with the UN Department of Public Information (DPI) and the UN Postal Administration (UNPA), is organizing an art competition for children on the theme: 'We Can End Poverty.'
Children from all around the world from age 5 to 15 years can participate in the competition.
Each entry should be made on paper or canvas of A4 size. Ink, pencil, charcoal, crayon, water colour, marker or any other material available in the environment may be used.
Each design should be accompanied by a brief description of its meaning on the back of the entry. Personal information such as full name, age, gender, full address, country, telephone/fax number, e-mail address and any other useful contact information also should be provided at the back of the entry.
Criteria for evaluation will be artistic expression and how well the design expresses the theme of the competition.
The best six designs will be announced by the United Nations during the commemoration of the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty on October 17, 2007.
These six best designs will be issued as stamps by the UN Postal Administration. In addition, twenty other designs will be awarded special commendations. All twenty six designs will be displayed in a special exhibition at the United Nations in 2007.
