Something new I learnt today
Under 8 years
Today for Environmen-tal Studies I learnt new things about food. Though I eat food everyday, I do not know the nutrition value of them. Our teacher taught us how important food is.
We need protein to grow our body. Fish, meat, eggs and milk are rich in protein. Starchy food like rice, bread and yams give us strength and energy. Minerals and vitamins protect us from illnesses. Fresh fruits and vegetables have a lot of vitamins. Whenever I eat my food I know how valuable food is.

The noble bees
We're noble bees of the kingdom of bees,
Don't think us any lesser than you should,
'Cos though we are quite small in size,
We work as much as we could.
We're never lazy and idle,
We work all day in haste,
Building our hive and guarding our hive,
We've not a minute to waste.
We never quarrel or have our own ways,
We're one big family,
We're an example for you human race,
But what d'you do instead?
You destroy our hive to steal our honey,
Ultimately, make some money,
But aren't you ashamed, to destroy the hive,
Of the United Noble Bees?

What I can learn from an ant
12 - 14 years
Ants are small animals. But there are lessons that we can learn from them.
One is to work cooperatively. Many a time have I seen ants working together. Some huge antholes have been made because the ants work collectively.
Another is to work without being lazy. You've never seen an ant doing something lazily and slowly have you? Well, neither have I. It's not surprising because they aren't ever lazy. 'Always work quickly maybe,' is their motto and should be ours too!
An important thing I learned from an ant is 'never give up,' I once saw an ant failing to carry a piece of food, but after trying several times he succeeded in carrying it. So therefore, if I try again and again, I will succeed.
An ant always gets ready for the cold seasons from a long time before it arrives. It collects food with the other ants and stores them. From this, I learned to get ready for something (especially exams!) from a long time before it.
So, I think an ant is a good example for me to follow. If I even follow the few lessons I learned from an ant, I will be able to win and march forward.
