Filling the air with fragrance
The proud flamboyant all red
With the red carpet overhead
The carpet of flowers below
Welcome the New Year glow!
Fields flush in the Dumbara Valley
With ears of golden paddy
Dumbara damsels reap the corn
Resounding the valley with their songs
The joy of festivity hovers
On the eve of a national New Year!
Our gems, the Tooth Relic, Sri Mahabodhi
Adam’s Peak, Kataragama, the dagobas
Inspire an awakening call
To live in peace, in a unitary Lanka
Awake! Awake! One and all
Live Lanka, thou will never fall!
May the April golden sun
Bring peace to my Motherland soon!
