Old Zahrians – Havies in Cup final

Despite the prevailing monsoonal rains, conditions are ideal for a gruelling cup final - between Old Zahirans SC, and Havelocks SC in the Under -24 WPRFU tournament today (Sunday) at Havelock Park. Kick-off at 5 p.m.

The semi-finals were played on May 4 Friday at Havelock Park. Old Zahrians SC with a robust set of forwards ran amok in the mud to outplay Old Royal Horana by 42 points ( a goal and 7 tries) to nil. They led 27-0 at Lemons. M. Irshad Swarnatilleke Viraj (two each), Mursheed, Kais, Umesh Eranda (one each).

Havies nudge CH
The second semi-final between CH and FC and Havies turned out to be a keen contest. But, there was no scoring in the first half.. Havies playing with their forwards fired two penalties through fly half Samantha Lakshantha to lead 6-0 at half time.

During the dying stages, played in semi-darkness, CH scored the solitary unconverted try to lose 6-5 in a thriller.
