Lankans to the Middle East without the experienced trio

Sri Lanka’s three off-shore Limited Overs series against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi will be played on 18, 20 and 22nd of May according K. Mathivanan the Vice President of SLC’s Interim Committee. The Lankan team is scheduled to the Middle Eastern country on the 16th of May.
At present the Sri Lankan team who finished runners-up to Australia in the 9th edition of the World Cup just concluded in the West Indies is on a week’s holiday and they will be back in business when the selectors meet to select the squad on the 8th or the 9th. However they will have to do without the services of the experienced trio of Chaminda Vaas, Muttiah Muralitharan and Kumar Sangakkara who will leave to England to oblige their county commitments.
Meanwhile Sri Lankan coach Tom Moody who is away in England will be back in the island on the 12th. When asked about Moody’s future with the island team Mathivanan said “We are hoping to have a discussion with him on the subject upon his return to the island on the 12th and by the 13th we will definitely know about Moody’s future plans.” |
