Kandy Perahera in July open the door for
good winter traffic
Chairman Renton de Alwis of the Sri Lanka Tourist Board recently has stated that he was confident that the tourism industry will make a come back next month.
He noted that despite the drop observed in the previous months, July and August would be a good months for the arrival due to Perehera season.
He said with the positive momentum within the industry there is reason to believe things could get a kick start.
The confident chairman who had made tours around the country said that while they are conducting training for beach boys and taxi drivers among other smaller stakeholders in the industry in areas like Beruwela and Kandy there has also been a relative surge in the arrivals as expected.
However, they expect more foreign tourist arrivals next month and pointed out that there was no need to panic.
With the recent softening of the French travel advisory and the Katunayaka International Airport expected to be re-opened in a few weeks time, he remained optimistic that things could turnaround.
