15 drug dealers in phone net

A Kandy heroin dealer who managed to escape while in police custody did not realise that he was doing law enforcement officers a big favour.

He left behind his cell phone enabling Kandy police officers to go after the numbers registered on it and arrest 15 small-time drug dealers.

The fifteen suspects were produced before Kandy’s Chief Magistrate Harsha Setunge.
The suspects were fined ten thousand rupees each.
