BOI calls meeting for investment in East
Even as the Government prepares to hold elections in the East, investors have been called by the Board of Investment (BOI) for a meeting tomorrow to discuss investment in the region to back the development process there.
“After clearing Thoppigala, the Government is in a development mode and wants this process to take off as soon as possible,” a Government official said explaining the reason for the BOI meeting.
He said Investment Promotion Minister Sarath Amunugama had repeatedly said the East was where the investment potential lies.
“The discussions will also focus on tourism, fisheries and the development of the Trincomalee harbour,” he said. |
