“Suntel Enabled” managed services

Earlier this year, Suntel launched its “Suntel Enabled” (SE) managed solutions, moving a step closer to the top of the IT solutions ladder in Sri Lanka.

This service attempts to turn Suntel into a “one-stop shop” for all the telecom needs of the seven sectors of Sri Lanka’s economy.

This is a very lofty goal to be sure, but in an interview with The Sunday Times FT, Dr. Tariq Marikar, Director of IT at Suntel, explained why it was a goal Suntel was very much on the path to achieving.

Dr. Marikar explained that SE allowed a “consolidation of response” to any IT problems faced by the end-user. Basically, it allows the user to go to one place to get total and comprehensive IT and telecom solutions for their businesses.

In 2005/06 Dr. Marikar steered Suntel into partnerships with both SUN Microsystems as well as Microsoft, thus enabling not only greater expertise and training in their software for Suntel, but also ensuring discounted prices for the customers, he said.

SE is aimed to benefit mainly the medium to large corporations and businesses, and its services are tailor-made to meet each company’s needs, whatever they may be.

“Investing in Suntel Enabled solutions has brought us tremendous efficiencies, integration capabilities, cost savings and most importantly information and communication mechanisms which is key to our decision making,” said Mihidu Amaradasa, Director of Finance and Resources at MAS Holdings, one of Suntel’s bigger accounts.

Similar sentiments about the Suntel Enabled services are shared by many of the larger Sri Lankan corporations, clearly showing the satisfaction this service brings. (FR)
