A letter to a friend
I wonder why you did not come to the sportsmeet. It was such fun. Your house was placed third. Everyone saw your six first place medals and the third place cup, your house won.
Emerald was placed first, Ruby second, your house, Topaz third and Sapphire fourth. If you were there, your house would have got more marks because you're good in high jump.
Everything was going on nicely when it rained. Some of us even danced in the rain. The award ceremony was very colourful. It was a day you should have come and enjoyed.

The graceful dance
of nature
As I plundered through the forest's trees,
I dreamed of a place to fulfill my dreams,
But still I never found the place,
The place of all my golden dreams.
But at once I stumbled on a rock,
That opened the way to a beautiful scene.
The scene of the beautiful dancing trees,
Just following the music of
the breeze.
The graceful dance oh of the trees,
The floating and dancing of
the greens,
Forever and ever I'll remain,
In the place of the golden
dancing trees.

A visit to a library
My library is the British Council Library. It is situated in Colombo. It is divided into different sections.
There is a section called the Young Learners Centre. There are books on sports, cars, science, technology, animals, art, transport and famous people.
I like the sports books.
We have the internet facility too. Children can do educational things and play games. There are assistants to help and to check if children go to other websites. There are no chairs like in the adult section. Colourful pillows are put on the floor for us to sit or lie comfortably. Every Saturday they show us a movie or a cartoon. Many workshops are done and I enjoy taking part in them. Every week I borrow four books. It improves my knowledge and language.
They hold programmes to make children read more books. Lots of children come to the library. I really enjoy my visits to the library.
