‘Sili Sili’ reloaded, remixed and re-launched

‘Sili Sili Seethala Elle’ was one time hit in the Sri Lankan music scene. This was Raj Senewiratne`s maiden Sinhala video and the song captured the hearts of both young and old. It was released in 1984 and it become a overnight hit being aired for many years.

After over a decade, song 'Sili Sili' is now ready to hit the scene again, remixed, reloaded and with a brand new video. 'After 23 years with the song still on the air, it needed a pep-up with a fresh video. But the concept of the fresh video should not deviate too much from the1984 version which was directed and edited by Mr. Shan Wickremasinghe' said Raj. 'In October 2006 two video Directors came up with an interesting storyboard and the video was shot and edited, but there was something lacking in it. So I decided not to release the video and it shelved' he added. Raj was in quandary. A lot of Directors for Sinhala songs seem to follow the trend of Indian or Bollywood themes.

'They seem to forget that artist wise, we need to think Globally'. Then in May 2007, Raj met up with video directors Prasanga Gunasinghe and Thusitha Wimalasiri who came up with new concept and storyboard. 'It was so funny, their thinking was very similar to mine. They filmed it and the shots were much more than appropriate' Raj said. The new song is now ready to hit the air soon.

'This will be out in just a couple of weeks time and now at the final stage'. Raj fans are looking forward to watching a brand new version of ‘Sili Sili Seethala Elle’.
